The President of the Healthcare Investors Association and Chairman of the Board of Sıla Group, İhsan Şahin, stated that Türkiye has become a major destination for healthcare and that patients from 100 countries travel to Türkiye for medical treatment.

Şahin noted that the annual turnover of Türkiye’s health tourism sector has reached $4.5 billion, highlighting the country’s growing international reputation as a healthcare destination.

He also drew attention to the visible increase in international patients in Istanbul, particularly in popular areas such as İstiklal Avenue, saying:

“When you walk along İstiklal Avenue, you feel as if you are on a film set. It has become a street where you see people with bandaged heads and swollen faces walking around.”

The statement reflects the growing presence of international patients seeking medical treatment in Türkiye and the increasing importance of city hospitals and health tourism in the country’s healthcare sector.
